I was taking a shower and got out to find hummus splattered all over the bathroom, covering the faucet handles, drips from the living room into the bathroom, and finally smeared on the handle of the broom in an apparent attempt to clean up before I got out. Lindsay had come in earlier complaining that, "The shower is too loud, Mommy!" That was apparently the cover for, "I have made a huge mess with the hummus, Mommy!" Deflect the situation!
I put her in the bath as it was all in her hair, caking her hands, and all over her chest and legs, too. She had only just recently gotten out of the bathtub in the first place. I came in a few minutes later to talk to her.
Me: I'm not happy with you Lindsay. You made a really big mess!
Lindsay (angrily): I'm not happy either, Mommy!
Me (wondering how she could be the unhappy one, as she doesn't have to clean it up): Why are you not happy?
Lindsay: Because it was sticky on my 26 fingers... (kind of trails off...)
Yeah, not a very good counter-argument.
P.S. As I'm sitting here blogging this, I'm noticing a pool of pee in the corner. Lovely.

I feel for ya! Really, life with mischievous ones can wear on the patience.
I have to say ... your funny stories make my impending parenthood seem like it could be hilarious! Not as much in the moment ... but oh the stories!! Thanks ... you made me a bit more excited :)
hahahahahaha
i love it
Oh, poor you! Brenna's favorite when she's in trouble is "Remember we have to forgive people, Mommy!" Good luck on cleaning the hummus off everything!
LOl, sorry to laugh, but it's funny! Now I know why mom's would say they don't even have time to shower.
